SANTA CRUZ — Dozens of health care workers at Dominican Hospital in Santa Cruz stepped out of their offices and onto the picket line Tuesday to raise awareness about chronic staffing and retention issues they say have plagued the industry for years. 'We're in a crisis of staffing,' said Joe Williams who has worked as a laboratory assistant at Dominican for 17 years. Williams is also a member of the executive board at SEIU-United Health Workers West, the union that helped organize the picket. 'We would like them to at least match the rate of inflation.
